Appreciating what you do have will help you manifest more!
7 Ideas to Help You Appreciate Your Money
#1 Remember a time when you were making less money
One of the easiest ways to show gratitude for your current money is to think back to a time when you had less money, or you were making less money. Remember how tight things were? Remember how you wished to make more? Now, you do…appreciate it!
Being someone with a “futuristic” strength, it can be hard for me to look at the past. I can only see where I’m trying to go. This makes it hard to appreciate my journey, so it takes a conscious effort. It’s so easy to focus on where you want to be, especially with your money. But, it’s important to appreciate how far you’ve come. This makes it easier to express gratitude for your current situation.
#2 Every time you pay a bill, express gratitude
What a blessing it is to be able to pay your bills. Some people must decide between bills or food on the table. If you can pay your bills without thinking, appreciate it! Every time you go to pay a bill, express how grateful you are for the money you have to cover the cost of the bill.
Even if you’re only left with a small amount of money after all your bills are paid, how great is it that you can afford the bills in your life?! If you want to appreciate the money you have, you also need to appreciate the money you have to spend.
#3 Create a budget that includes the things you love
You’ll appreciate your money so much more if you give yourself some room to enjoy life with. When you create your budget, you should include the things you love. This may require moderated spending, but something is better than nothing!
Think about your budget non-negotiables and make a conscious effort to factor those things into your budget. That way, when you spend your money on those things, you won’t feel bad because it’s already accounted for.
Not only will this help you stay consistent with your budgeting efforts, but you’ll appreciate your money a lot more because you get to spend it on things you truly love and care about. That’s such a great feeling to have!
#4 Recognize how your money helps you make more money
Another idea to help you appreciate your money is to recognize how your current money helps you to make more money. This happens in a variety of ways. One way, in the present, is by keeping your savings in a high-yield savings account (HYSA). Because HYSAs have pretty good interest rates, every month you’ll see a nice bump in your savings…thanks to interest.
Another way, more for the future, is by saving for retirement…or even investing for the long-term. When invested over the long-term, your money can grow as much as 10% or more! What a blessing to have your current money make you even more money in the future!
#5 Write a daily gratitude list, and make sure money is on it
This may seem like an obvious tip, but the power of repetition is unmatched. Every day, writing out a list of 5 things you’re grateful for can help you tap into your own gratitude reserve. To appreciate your money, make sure it’s always on your daily gratitude list. Eventually, you’ll find that you’re grateful for the money you do have, without question.
#6 Improve your financial literacy
Taking time to learn more about personal finance is a great way to show your appreciation for money. It means you take it seriously. It means you’re willing to put in the work and effort. The results that come with taking your money seriously and working on improving your finances are tremendous.
There are a variety of ways you can improve your financial literacy. Read personal finance books, consume personal finance content, listen to podcast episodes, work with a money coach, or read magazine and newspaper articles.
#7 Mindful spending is a form of respect (when you respect, you can appreciate)
When you respect something, you appreciate it more. Learn to respect your money by being mindful and intentional with how you use it. Instead of just mindlessly spending, be conscious and aware of where your dollars go. Over time, you’ll find that you don’t want to disrespect your cash by sending it somewhere it doesn’t belong.
