Regardless of acne, sunspots, or wrinkles, radiant skin is on every woman’s wish list. Some women have to work a little harder to achieve glowing skin, but it’s certainly possible! The CGS Team is sharing 5 tips to help every woman achieve better skin. Certain factors may be out of your control, but why not do everything in your power to achieve the skin of your dreams?
Tip #1: Detox Your Body
One of the best ways to improve your skin (and overall health) is to be aware of what goes into your body. If you’ve been eating fast food, dining out, or snacking on processed foods, a detox may be just what you need to get your skin and body back on track. The reality is that skin problems (think acne) typically happen when your body can’t effectively eliminate toxins. It’s best to consult a healthcare provider or nutritionist when doing a full-on detox, but to give your system a reboot, try the following:
- Start each day with warm lemon water to flush out toxins
- Cut out sugar, alcohol and excess dairy for 7 days to give your body a rest
- Only eat fresh fruits, vegetables, and protein to increase your skin-boosting nutrient intake
- Limit foods with excess salt, which can result in bloating

Tip #2: Never Forget the SPF
As we shared in the Revamp Your Skincare Routine article, sunscreen can provide some major benefits for your skin. Not only does sunscreen help block harmful UVA and UVB rays from damaging your skin, it can actually have an anti-aging affect! An Australian study showed that people who wore sunscreen every day for four years did not appear to age at all. The short-term benefits include radiant and glowing skin, while the long-term benefits include anti-aging!
Tip #3: Clean the Things that Touch Your Face
All of the cleansing and sunscreen-applying can be rendered useless if your face touches things that contain dirt and bacteria. Things like your pillow cases, make-up brushes and even your hair can touch your skin and leave it in worse shape than you began! A British study found that 72% of women never wash their brushes or sponges, even though they collect dirt and bacteria which can cause breakouts. If we know that these items can cause breakouts, why wouldn’t we clean them regularly?
Tip #4: Catch Up on Your Rest
Lack of sleep can provide so many problems. Higher stress levels, quickened weight gain, and dull skin are just a few of the issues that can come from skimping out on your sleep. Healthcare professionals recommend 6-8 hours of sleep per night to get the most rest. Getting your necessary sleep will make you feel more energized, giving you a happy, energetic glow.
Tip #5: Drink More Water
Last, but certainly not least in our tips for radiant skin, is to drink more water! Drinking more water can do wonders for your body, including your skin. Water helps flush toxins and unwanted bloat out of your body. It gives your skin a boost and can help give your body a recharge! There are a million reasons to drink more water, and radiant skin is one of them!
All of the tips listed above can be completely controlled by the person who does them. If you are wondering why your skin may be letting you down, ask yourself if you are doing everything you can to help the situation? Start making the right decisions for your body, and glowing skin will shortly follow! What do you do when you have a breakout? Are there any skin-glowing tips you can share? I use Neutrogena Naturals for moisturizer, but it doesn’t have SPF. I need to find something just as effective but with an SPF, any suggestions?
