5 Easy Ways to Practice Positivity

Have you ever found yourself in a tough situation and you somehow turned that bad situation into a great experience? Most of the time we have more control over things than we like to give ourselves credit for. Sometimes speaking and thinking positively is all we need to do to turn a situation around in a blink of an eye. Is the glass half full or is it half empty? Speaking and thinking positively isn’t has tough as you may imagine. The CGS team has put together 5 easy ways to proactively practice positivity.

Practice Positivity by…

Slowing Down

In life we are always going, and we rarely take a moment to just be in the moment. It’s good to slow down every now and then. Taking in the moment, whether it’s a job promotion, a personal accomplishment, or simply just because, is great for our well-being.  In most cases, in order to move forward in life, we have to slow down and appreciate where we are in the present.

The old saying “slow down and smell the roses” is greater than just a phrase. Enjoy life and all it has to offer, there is no joy in rushing through it. Not to mention, all we can guarantee is the present. You can’t change the past, and the future isn’t promised.

Treating Yourself Right

Before you place anyone or anything before you, you need to put yourself first. Treating yourself right comes before anything else because you can’t be your best self to others if you aren’t good to yourself. In order to be great at what you do, you have to know compassion.

We all know it can be hard to practice compassion during trials and tribulations but it is those shortcomings that make us who we are.  It’s easy to blame yourself when things go wrong in life, but with compassion towards yourself, you learn to brush things off quicker and not lay in your sorrow forever.

Remembering the Simple Things

The simple things in life are free, so why not indulge in them? You can have just as much fun and enjoyment out of simple things than if you paid for experiences. Simply going to your nearest park and taking a stroll to appreciate nature at its finest. Maybe even check out your local bookstore or library and read a genre that interests you. Doing things that don’t cost much, if anything at all, typically are great stress relievers when you have a lot on your mind.

Developing Resiliency

What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger. Having a form of resilience prepares you to overcome life’s struggles.  When you know how to withstand the storm, you begin to feel a sense of never being defeated. Learning to adapt to your situation, whether it’s bad or good, can lead you a life of optimism and positivity.

The more positive you give out, the more positive you will receive. This is especially true in situations you can’t control. Instead of beating yourself up or letting a negative situation get the better of you, think about how you can learn and grow. It may not be easy, but it is absolutely possible.

Directing Your Energy

It is always important to keep in mind that you are in control of your life. Directing your energy towards things that are beneficial for you is vital for practicing positivity and leading a happy life. Negative thinking attracts negative energy. Don’t surround yourself around bad people, or bad things, because in due time that “badness” associated with those things will rub off on to you.

When you begin to think positive, positive things will begin to happen. Have an open mind with almost everything you do; the likelihood of your success will be greater with an open mind compared to a closed one. Did you know you can be negative and not know it?
