Make the Most of Your Mornings

We all enjoy getting some good shut-eye, but whether you’re forced to get out of bed or you wake up naturally, why not make the most of your morning? What you do and think about in the first moments of waking up can actually set the tone for your day.  Check out the seven tips below to set a positive tone and make the most of your mornings on a daily basis.

Get Up 15 Minutes Earlier

This one may be hard, especially for those who love their sleep! However, getting up 15 minutes earlier each day can take away that “rushed” feeling when getting ready for work or school.

An extra 15 minutes to your morning will allow you to lay in bed and plan your day. Envision a day filled with productivity and positivity! If you can’t seem to plan your day, use the 15 minutes to do something you enjoy, like read a book or listen to music.

Soothe Your Senses

What’s worse than waking up to a honking alarm? Set your alarm ringtone to something you actually like hearing. Sounds like your favorite song, birds chirping, or waves crashing can wake you up on a positive note.  You can also ignite your other senses!

Go to sleep with your curtains halfway open so that you wake up to some fresh, natural light.  Also, set your coffee machine on an automatic timer to start brewing when you wake up.  Coffee lovers know that the smell of fresh coffee in the morning can definitely help start the day on a positive note.

Keep a Glass of Water on Your Nightstand

When you spend all night sleeping, it’s not surprising that you will wake up hungry or thirsty. Start your day on a healthy note by drinking a full glass of water right when you wake up.  Have a bottle of water or full glass already on your nightstand or somewhere near your bed so you won’t forget to drink it when you wake up.  You will start to feel healthy right away by starting your day off with some water.

Read a Motivational Quote

Why not start the day by reading a motivational quote? There are so many amazing and positivity-filled quotes that can be found online.  Make it a point to read a new one each morning when you wake up. Use that to help set the tone for a successful day!

Stretch Your Muscles

People often underestimate what stretching can do for your mood and body.  Give your body some much-needed love in the morning by stretching. Start from the top and work your way down, ensuring to give each body part some attention.

Make Fresh Tea or Coffee

This should be an easy task if you implement the automatic timer! If not, use a portion of that extra 15 minutes to make yourself a cup of tea or coffee.  Sit for a few minutes and simply enjoy what you’re drinking. Once the caffeine starts to kick in, you will feel a lovely boost of energy. What better way to start your day than with some energy! Pack Lunch and Some Snacks

This one is key, especially for those of us who are trying to save some money! Most millennial women spend a bulk of their extra cash on meals out and work or school snacks. Nip that bad spending habit in the bud by utilizing your mornings to pack a lunch and prepare some healthy snacks. Not only will your wallet thank you, but you will feel better eating the food that you have already purchased.
