When you’re thinking of starting your own business, the overwhelm can take over. Especially when there are so many websites for starting a business. Trust me, I’ve been there. Fortunately, I had experience with small business before starting City Girl Savings. I knew a few of the things that needed to be done before officially opening. Check out the article What You Need to Start a Blog or Business for a quick overview of the things that need to be done before starting.
Once you have the basics taken care of, or if you need more insight on learning where to start and what to do, the 5 websites below can provide tremendous help. I refer to most of these websites on a consistent basis because I always find value in the content and information they provide. Here’s my list of 5 go-to websites for those who are starting a business.
Go-to Websites for Starting a Business…
Small Business Administration
The U.S. Small Business Administration has wonderful information for every stage of business. Whether your business is in the idea phase or the growth phase, SBA has valuable information for everyone. For those in the start-up phase, you can provide information on how to write a business plan (I used this website when I created City Girl Savings’ business plan), choosing your business structure, learning about required permits and laws, and hiring your first employee. Add this website to your favorites!
Entrepreneur
First released as an in-print magazine, Entrepreneur still prints magazines but has a ton of great information on their website. With more articles, resources, and the ability to search, the Entrepreneur website is a must-have for those just starting their business. You can learn about business ideas, franchises, events in your area, business inspiration and motivation, hacks for managing employees and much more.
Forbes
Another magazine turned website resource, Forbes is ideal for anyone looking to start a business, grow in their career, and get inspired by those who have done it! Forbes publishes many popular lists like the World’s Richest People, Top 30 Entrepreneurs under 30, Most Influential People, and more. These lists feature the stories of the individuals who have made it. You can also find an abundance of articles on starting and growing a business, investing, leadership, entrepreneur lifestyle and more.
Classy Career Girl
I love Classy Career Girl! CEO and Founder Anna Runyan helps women quit the job they hate and start their dream career. Anna is completely relatable because she went through it all! She was in a job she hated and she took her passion and turned it into a thriving business. She has a podcast and YouTube channel with great learning videos. She also offers membership communities for whatever stage you are in the start-up process.
Inc.
If you want to stay up-to-date with what’s happening in the business, finance, technology, and start-up world, then Inc. is for you! Inc. publishes content by the minute to keep you knowledgeable of what’s happening around you. Inc. also has a library of articles and resources for those looking to start and grow a business.
All of these websites have helped me tremendously, and still help me to this day. Remember, the learning never stops when you’re working towards your goals, so keep the best resources at your fingertips! Also, checkout some of the great business articles City Girl Savings offers!
