6 Ways to Combat Belly Bloat

Summer is moving right along, and if you’re taking advantage, your belly could be feeling it. Endless days at the pool, cocktails and warm nights out, fun BBQs. There’s no denying that summer is one of the best seasons for enjoying life. However, it’s easy to overindulge. Before you know it, your flat stomach is poking out with some major bloat. The CGS Team is sharing 6 ways you can combat belly bloat and feel as good as new.

How to combat belly bloat for good…

#1 Take your coffee black

Thank goodness that coffee has more benefits than simply keeping us awake! The caffeine in your daily cup of coffee helps flush waste out of your system by contracting your colon. The only catch? Take your coffee black. Cream, milk, or any dairy product contributes to a bloated belly. Add a little Splenda so the taste isn’t too much, but you’ll get used to it!

#2 Control your portions

Nothing contributes more to a bloated belly and stuffing yourself on food. We get it, the ribs are just too good to put down! Well, control yourself, ladies. Instead of letting hunger get the best of you and overeating, have 5-6 small meals throughout the day. This will help control belly bloat, but it also benefits you in the long run by speeding up your metabolism and controlling your blood sugar.

#3 Eat more fruit

Eating more fruit, specifically watermelon, cantaloupe and pineapple can help tame belly bloat. Thanks to their high-water content and high potassium levels to flush out sodium, you can’t go wrong with these fruits. Not to mention, the high-water content will make it easier to cool down and stay hydrated with the intense summer sun.

#4 Sip water throughout the day.

According to PureWow, “A small, consistent amount of H20 throughout the day can maintain a normal water level. Withholding water for hours then chugging a bunch at once will shock your system and cause the reverse effect–swelling.” You should be drinking half of your body weight in ounces each day anyways, so pacing your water intake throughout the day will make it easier to achieve.

#5 Skip the carbonated drinks

Even if you love the fizz, carbonated drinks can cause gas to get stuck in your belly. This leads to major bloat but also unexpected passing of gas – which could end badly! Try opting for flavored water. Check out the article 6 Yummy Ways to Flavor Water for some tasty ideas. If you can’t cut your carbonation craving completely, limit it to one fizzy drink a day.

#6 Work those abs

While working your abs won’t actually get rid of belly fat, it can give you the look of a more-defined waistline. Although you can’t necessarily spot reduce your belly bloat, you can strengthen your abs with routines like Pilates and exercise ball workouts. Stronger muscles can help your belly appear flatter. We’ll take it!
