Leveraging Essential Oils for Beauty Perks

We’ve all heard of essential oils, but do we know what they really are? Essential oils are scented oils derived from plants. The “essence” of the plant is captured in the oil, hence “essential” oil. In the past, essential oils had been used in medicine, food, beauty care, and aromatherapy. There’s no denying the benefits people can get from the essence of plants, especially when it comes to beauty. I’ve done some research to pinpoint the best essential oils for beauty benefits, so you can leverage them in your beauty routines moving forward.

Geranium Oil

If you have oily skin, geranium can be your cure. The oil of geranium flowers has been known to balance oil production in the skin. It can be added to your moisturizer to ensure your skin is hydrated, but also make sure you are not oily by midday. There are plenty of geranium oils to choose from, so shop around.

Lemongrass Oil

If your toner or astringent hasn’t been making the cut, try lemongrass oil. Lemongrass extract works as a great toner for your skin, and works to enhance your natural glow. An organic alternative may suit your toner needs.

Rose oil is often found in most skincare products because of it’s scent and ability to help keep skin looking youthful. If you want to fight the signs of aging, leverage rose oil as a moisturizer before bed. It also has a calming effect that can help you sleep better.

Frankincense Oil

Everyone enjoys a good beach trip every summer, but too much time in the sun can leave your skin damaged and discolored. If you have skin with discoloration, frankincense oil can help with pigmentation, working towards an even skin tone. Frankincense oil also works to tone and tighten the skin, which is another result of too much sun exposure.

Hair Care

Rosemary Oil

Naturally, hair thins over time. However, leveraging essential oils, like rosemary oil can assist with growing thicker, stronger hair. Rosemary oil has been known to increase cellular metabolism, which stimulates hair growth and prevents healing of damaged follicles. It’s one of the best oils to leverage for growing thicker hair.

Cedarwood Oil

If you suffer from severe dandruff, cedarwood oil can serve as a remedy. Cedarwood works to balance oil secretion of the glands on your scalp. It’s warming nature also serves to improve blood circulation, and it serves as an antiseptic to treat unwanted bacteria.

Vetiver Oil

Live in a big city? If so, your hair and skin is subject to free radical damage. Vetiver oil is derived from a specific type of grass and has been tested to reduce stress of the body, as well as prevent damage caused by free radicals. If you are experiencing premature balding or graying of the hair, give vetiver oil a try.

Other Beauty Care

Lavender Oil

Stress can cause damage to your skin, body, and mind. Stress can result in a lack of sleep, which has its own damaging effects. Lavender oil has been proven to reduce stress, calm agitation, and reduce insomnia caused by stress. Add a drop of lavender oil to your pillow before bed, and wake up feeling better than ever.

Ginger Oil

Need help staying on your diet? Naturally, ginger reduces inflammation of the body, which can lower your risk of many diseases, and actually aid in absorbing the vitamins from your food. Ginger can be eaten outright, but if the taste is too potent, ginger oil serves as a great alternative. It can also help curb sugar cravings!
